A flood watch remains in effect through Tuesday afternoon, as the forecast calls for as much as a half foot of rain in some places.
Some towns or cities could have their wettest March on record, said Michael Cempa, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
As emergency management leaders monitor the storm, Gov. John Lynch announced that President Obama has approved his request for a major disaster declaration for the wind storm that socked the state in late February.
The disaster declaration will make public assistance available for impacted communities in Grafton, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Rockingham, Strafford, and Sullivan counties.
