McCain Invites Obama to do a Series of Joint Town Halls

Senator McCain formally invited Senator Obama to participate in a series of town hall meetings. In a blogger call today Senator McCain stated that this was an opportunity to directly answer questions the voters have. When questioned about whether this request was made because the format suits him better than the long speech format that Senator Obama excels at, Senator McCain replied that he wanted this format because it allows for substantive issues to be addressed. He noted that speeches don’t allow voter participation and that many voters are less interested in hearing speeches than having their questions answered. The call also touched on the roll of 527’s, the media’s aggrandizement of Senator Obama’s nomination, campaigning with decency, and the changing statements Senator Obama has made about Iran.
